UX Architecture | UI Design

Bluphrog specializes in UX Architecture - not to be conflated with UI design. Bluphrog can deliver on UI design engagements as well (and generally includes wireframe UI designs as part of UX Architecture efforts), but even the best UI design cannot make up for failures of UX architecture. Not sure about the difference? UX architects construct the underlying user-enabling framework on which the UI designers build the presentation-layer facade. Both matter. But UX Architecture provides the scalability, flexibility, and manageability across a wide variety of user personas and use cases that great UI design alone cannot deliver.

As a note - Bluphrog’s founder was the UX architect and UI designer on the Veteran’s Administration’s VRO and VBMS (Veteran Benefits Management System) efforts to modernize their claims processing application and significantly improve the Veteran’s experience. It was a true agile project with weekly sprints and multiple user feedback sessions with users from various parts of the country flown to DC for sprint demonstrations and design input. While that early proof-of-concept application is long gone, the agency continues to use many of the templates and approaches established on that project!
