I am Bluphrog
For over 25 years I have contributed as a leader, disruptive contributor, and go-to problem solver to a number of organizations across multiple industries - but mostly to industries needing help with IT efforts. My skills are broad and deep and have been informed by my clinical and scientific problem solving approach. And while I don’t do all of these things at once (2 or 3 maybe, but not all), every area of competency presented on this site reflects real examples of roles I’ve filled and successes I’ve enjoyed.
The value you get with Bluphrog (high quality outcomes, easy leadership, and skillset versatility) is evidenced by a handful of IT career highlights. In addition to many other accomplishments, I have:
Managed a large (130+) person IT service delivery organization organized into 7 practice areas with 7 practice lead direct reports (along with a career’s worth of team leadership roles);
Been tasked by board members to implement company-wide plan to health, developing a strategic and tactical plan to better position a software solutions company for success through better customer experience and improved cross-departmental collaboration;
Served as the primary UX architect who re-designed the claims processing application UX and UI for the VA, also serving as a Scrum Master on the engagement;
Built a FedRAMP compliance program, navigated FedRAMP Connect to secure a JAB sponsorship and was awarded a FedRAMP P-ATO (one of a short list of people who can make such a claim) - all with minimal support; and
Created over 100 customer journey maps (and counting) for proposed software applications and software suite solutions, many that have hung in large commercial office buildings and government buildings including the Pentagon.
Every skill I have in the IT and cybersecurity world evolved from a passion for understanding and a genuine need to bridge the gap between things technology can do, things technology should do, and the humans using those technologies to accomplish their business missions - all while maintaining a healthy cybersecurity posture.
In an increasingly ML/AI-driven world where people are initially and often only known by a set of impersonal bullets on an algorithm-analyzed resume or an enumerated list of certifications and generic skills labels - this site represents the more important parts of me that will never show up on a page or two of what really amounts to a machine-readable (and soul-less) human spec sheet.
If I had a nickel…
If I had a nickel for every time a team I started working with was unable to answer the most basic questions of “what problem is this solution solving” and “who is going to be using this solution and why would they want to do that?”… well, I’d have at least a pocket full of nickels!
Why this site?
This site was created for those who wonder what I do. If you are reading this, there’s a good chance it’s because I sent you here to help answer that in an open, effective, informative, and engaging way. I hope the words I’ve written tell the right story, and the handful of images/pictures I’ve chosen truly paint 1000 words each - giving you a solid understanding of what you get when you get me.
If I succeeded, you will see evidence of natural leadership, consummate professionalism, relentless dedication, solid work ethic, commitment to quality, breadth and depth of technical and soft skills, and confidence and bravery to take on new and giant obstacles (FedRAMP JAB P-ATO anyone?) - all while maintaining a sense of humor and including a side of creativity. You will also see that technology content doesn’t have to be boring - unless you prefer boring - I can do that too! (why though?)
While work included on the site is a drop in the bucket (protecting customer and employer IP is crucial) - I think it’s enough. If it’s not enough (or it’s just too much) - don’t be shy about letting me know. Heaven knows I’m not shy!
Infographic Resume for Bluphrog Leadership
It wouldn’t seem right to approach so many solutioning and communication efforts by starting with a journey map or visualized description of a complex scenario - and not use the same approach to represent my general career achievements. A traditional resume and an engagement summary covering a handful of specific past engagements is available upon request.
